Pssst… Mother’s Day is right around the corner. I am saying this publicly so that I might actually remember to order presents in time this year. It’s not that I forget the holiday – it’s that I forget to go shopping in time.
Do y’all do that, too, or just me?
It’s so annoying when it’s like 3:30 PM on Friday and I remember that Mother’s Day is in less than 48 hours. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime!
This year, in an effort to drop a rather large hint to Tommy, I thought I would share a list of things the traveling mama might want for Mother’s Day. These are things that have come highly recommended by other online travel bloggers, and I have had my eye on them for a while now.
I tried to include a wide range of prices, though a few of these gifts are on the higher end of the scale. This is a case of you get what you pay for because the more expensive gifts are designed to last a lifetime. Maybe talk your siblings into going in on one super nice present that your mom will love forever? (As an only child – I’m so jealous of this option.)
What Your Traveling Mom Wants For Mother’s Day
For the “Click” mom
Up first, is a handy gift for the mom who is always chasing the light to get that one perfect shot. The Cotton Carrier Strapshot EV1 for Full-Sized DSLR & Compact Cameras is the perfect gift for the photography mom who already “has it all”.
The Strapshot EV1 holds a full DSLR camera hands-free, is easy to un-attach to get the picture quickly, and has multiple ways for it to be worn. This is perfect for mamas like me who like to hike but would be just as useful at Disneyworld. (Which come to think of it, is kinda like hiking. But, with mouse ears.) At $79, it is an affordable gift to add to your mom’s camera gear collection.
For the “Less is More” Mom
Does anyone else see the irony of giving a gift to someone who wants “less”? These are the thoughts that keep me awake at night.
For the mama who likes to travel light, the YOMO Passport Holder Wallet comes highly recommended.
Super slim, but large enough to hold passports, cell phones, and credit cards at the same time. This neck travel wallet is RFID blocking, which is super important when traveling overseas. The YOMO Passport Holder Wallet is very comfortable, with skin-soft lining to prevent itching around your neck. It comes in eight colors to choose from, so you are sure to find a gift to please everyone.
For the Tech Loving Mom
I am a mom who travels with about twenty different plugs. Phone, portable chargers, personal hotspot, Kindle, laptop, camera plugs… That’s just the shortlist. Keeping those cords untangled is always a challenge. But more than that, being about 30,000 feet altitude up and realizing that you left your phone charger in your suitcase – that was boarded – and it’s a 12-hour flight, that’s straight up the worst.
That’s where this genius little gift comes in and saves the day. The Zero Grid Electronics Travel Organizer helps keep all your cords, cables, and electronic accessories together in one handy pouch. If your mama is like me and likes things super organized and easy to find, then she will love this travel pouch. Also, it comes with a 100% money-back, lifetime guarantee, so you buy one and you are set for life. Sa-weet!
For the Nose in a Book Mama
When I am packing my tote to go spend my Sunday afternoon at the beach, I love to include something to read. I’m not a beach napper when I tan (thanks to the “sea-gull incident of 1999″… shudder), so I make sure I have something to keep my mind focused and not drifting off. As much as I love my portable reading app on my phone, the screen is just too dark. Reading from a dark screen in bright sunlight is next to impossible.
That is why I just love and adore the Kindle Paperwhite E-reader. The Kindle Paperwhite is easy to see while catching a few rays. Its slim, light design is easy to travel with, making it perfect for long layovers. And, my personal favorite part is the battery life. One full charge can last for weeks. When traveling this is a total game-changer.
Add on Kindle Unlimited, which includes unlimited reading and listening to audiobooks across all of your mom’s Kindle apps, and you will have one very happy, book-loving mama.
For the Stylish Mama
If I could only get just one thing on this list, this would be the one. Whether it’s walking eleven miles a day while sightseeing around Tokyo or walking miles and miles a day around my living room, I put a lot of distance on my shoes every year. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that function beats form any day when it comes to walking shoes. But, why should it have to?
With these sneakers, it doesn’t have to. OLUKAI Pehuea Li Women’s Slip On Sneakers is what happens when super comfy and totally cute meet and have a baby. You get these crazy comfortable shoes that look snazzy in all your Instagram pics. They come in 5 different colors, so your mom’s favorite color shouldn’t be hard to find.
Want to be Mom’s favorite? Get her these shoes. Straight to the top of the list for you!
For the Fitness Mama
I am a giant fan of my fitness tracker. Not only do I challenge myself with meeting my goals for walking daily with it, but I can also monitor my sleep, weight, even keep track of my macros on it! And while my tracker makes staying in shape easier to do, I wouldn’t say the one I own is the most stylish thing to wear. When I dress up, a rubber “watch” doesn’t really match my ensemble.
Thank the stars that fashion designers have heard our cries. There are so many cute options to choose from when looking for stylish activity trackers nowadays, that I had a hard time choosing just one. But, the one that I have full-on heart eyes for is the Michael Kors Women’s Gen 5E 43mm Stainless Steel Touchscreen Smartwatch with Fitness Tracker.
The touchscreen makes keeping up with your notifications from social media and texts a breeze. There’s a built-in fitness tracker as well, which means your mom will never have to forsake her activity monitoring for the cause of fashion. Michael Kors thought of everything. Cover all your Mom’s style and fitness bases with this all-in-one gift.
For the Organized Mom
It was only about two years ago that I made a discovery that changed my life. No longer did I have to take a large suitcase to fit all my items in when I traveled. All my clothes and accessories could now fit in a carry-on! Unpacking my suitcase at arrival was no longer a headache. Just open my bag and unpack easily, all while staying organized.
What was the answer to my overflowing luggage prayers? Packing cubes!
If you haven’t gotten hip to this trend, then what are you waiting on? Packing cubes don’t seem like a big deal until you try them. Once you realize how much more space you will have in your bags, you will never look back. These are especially handy for mamas with more than one kid sharing a suitcase. It is much easier to separate clothes by the child when your packing with these cubes.
Packing cubes make my life so much better. They will make your mama’s life better, too. I pinky promise.
For the Weekend Getaway Moms
You’ve already got your mom a set of packing cubes, you say? Make her “carry-on only” travel dreams come true by getting her a weekender bag worthy of her.
The Longchamp Le Pliage Large Nylon Shoulder Tote is an absolute must for mamas who like to get away for the weekend or those moms who prefer to pack carry-on only. The bag is expandable to accommodate those souvenirs you just can’t leave behind. Inside the Longchamp Le Pilage Large Nylon Shoulder Tote is plenty of space for all your clothes and accessories. Longchamp is a luxury bag that will last a lifetime. Your adventurous mama will be wowed at your great taste, and appreciate this bag for many years to come.
For the Bright Future Mamas
What do you give the woman who has everything? The woman who loves to be outdoors, whether it’s hiking or just being a beach bum? The woman who gave you life??
No pressure here.
Probably the most useful, and needed, gift your mom could get is a really nice pair of sunglasses. Protecting your vision gets to be something we become more aware of as we get older. I try not to go outside during the day without my sunglasses, because the sun here in Paradise is bright, and squinting causes wrinkles.
I’m clinging to my semi-smooth skin for as long as I can, Y’all. Wrinkles are for people older than me, is my motto.
These Milane Heart sunglasses by Chloe are too cute! The gold frames and pink lenses look good on every face. As someone who only wears rose-colored sunglasses, I’ll be the first to tell you they make everything just look prettier. Sunsets, flowers, reflections in the mirror – all prettier through these glasses.
Your mom will love these glasses, and love that you were so thoughtful of her needs. Who’s her favorite kid now??
For the “Needs a Nap” Mom
I am the absolute worst at getting a nap on a plane. I’m already a light sleeper as it is, but put me on a plane with hundreds of strangers, turbulence, and flight attendants checking on me every ten minutes, and I can guarantee I will get no sleep. By the time we landed after the 32-hour trip from Tennessee to Saipan, I was a zombie. If only I had this adjustable travel pillow maybe I would have gotten more rest.
There are five different positions the pillow can be adjusted to, depending on your mom’s comfort needs. I love that you can sleep sitting up and your head won’t fall forward. There’s nothing worse than your head falling forward and waking you up suddenly after finally falling asleep. This pillow solves those “head snap” moments.
Remember – a well-rested mama is a happy mama, kids.
Hopefully, I have inspired you to go out and find your travel-loving mama something she won’t be able to live without. Or, at the very least, I hope I helped you to remember Mother’s Day is coming up.
Give your mama lots of love, Y’all. Nobody loves you like her.
And on that note – Happy Mother’s Day to my mom, Sandy. Thanks for not adopting me out when I was a teenager.
Thanks for stopping by! I would love it if you’d share this post with your friends and family (especially if you’re a mom trying to drop hints to your kids). Also, make sure you check out my Pinterest for even more Mother’s Day gift ideas on my Mother’s Day board.
